Cuisinart Grind and Brew 12-Cup Coffee Maker Model DGB-700BC

This review is from: Cuisinart Grind and Brew 12-Cup Coffee Maker Model DGB-700BCThe idea of having a hopper that feeds whole beans into the grinder right before brewing sounds great. It's what influenced my decision to place this on my Wedding Registry.Little did I know that moisture from the beans or from the brewing process would rise up into the hopper, causing the beans to stick to each other. The result is that not enough beans fall into the grinder. The grinder runs for as long as it thinks it needs to grind x scoops of beans, so there's nothing that tells it that there are the right amount of grounds in the filter. If something blocks the beans from falling into the filter, you'll have less grounds than necessary for that perfect brew and your coffee will end up having the thickness and color of black tea- like mine frequently does. The remedy is to STAND in front of the device, hopper lid off, and ensure that when the beans stick to one another, you quickly stir the beans, so that they make it down into the grinder. This defeats the purpose and I may as well SKIP the hopper, pull out my hand grinder and go back to grinding the night before.Well, I went fancy German and failed... my old trusty Mr. Coffee never failed me....This review is from: Cuisinart Grind and Brew 12-Cup Coffee Maker Model DGB-700BCIf you are ok with it working for just a year or so this coffee maker is for you. Our first one lasted just under a year, they were nice enough to warranty it and send us a replacment that is why the 2 stars vs 1. However second is now a big expensive regular coffe maker, grind capability is gone.Controls are complex, in my opinion.Havent flipped it over yet, but sure it is made in China, nuff said....This review is from: Cuisinart Grind and Brew 12-Cup Coffee Maker Model DGB-700BCWe have had this coffee maker for a number of years and it is JUNK! After the bean grinds, it often jams up on the way to to the coffee filter... we then have to stop the grinder, clean it out, and stand their and make sure it doesn't jam. We clean out the chute every day and still have issues. We would have changed coffee makers years ago, but could not justify replacing such a pricy appliance... I have finally had enough and this thing is going in the TRASH! Cuisinart needs to take this off the market and re-engineer. Will NEVER buy Cuisinart again!...
