This review is from: Saeco 10-Cup Automatic Drip Coffee Maker with Thermal Carafe and Burr Grinder, Stainless SteelI have had this product for about 2 weeks and have owned several different brands of grind and brew machines over the years. Thus far- coffee is good (on strong); clean-up is simple; programming requires a little experience on sequencing (I've owned other brands and seem to revert back to old habits). The carafe design, however, is horrible. Whether filling the water reservoir or filling the cup, it leaks all the time unless you pour at a dribble rate (for the 1st cup of coffee in the morning? Come on!!!). About 1 cup of water seems to run over the counter when filling the reservoir. This seems to be a function of the narrow width of the spout. Should be an easy fix. Also, the carafe design always seems to leave about 1/2 cup of water in the carafe when filling the reservoir until you practically turn the carafe upside down....This review is from: Saeco 10-Cup Automatic Drip Coffee Maker with Thermal Carafe and Burr Grinder, Stainless SteelNot real sure what some of the bad reviews are all about in regards to this machine. No issues with pouring that is not present with any other thermal carafe. Yes the water reservoir is a bit awkward to poor into, but not that big of a deal. Makes great coffee, and allows you to choose if you want your coffee made mild, medium, or strong. We love our machine, and you can't go wrong with a name like Saeco....This review is from: Saeco 10-Cup Automatic Drip Coffee Maker with Thermal Carafe and Burr Grinder, Stainless SteelI would have to agree with the review of the other two people. The carafe is REALLY REALLY bad!!! I read the reviews before purchase and thought I would just take a chance on it! I had trust in this brand since my mother owns a Saeco and I really loved hers (hers however was a more expensive model without a carafe) I would strongly advice NOT to buy this product until they fix the carafe. We have had this product for about a month now and the coffee is good but it is just not worth it. The coffee also doesn't stay hot. My parents in law own a Starbucks machine and have a thermal carafe their coffee stays brewing hot for 8 hours!!!!! That was what I expected from this model and was sadly disappointed!...

Chemex Six Cup Glass Coffee Maker with Glass Handle - 6 Cup Coffee Maker

This review is from: Chemex Six Cup Glass Coffee Maker with Glass Handle - 6 Cup Coffee MakerI am very pleased with this product. I have been eyeing it for awhile, mostly as an alternative to the drip we use daily for reasons of getting away from plastic. I am glad I waited because the new design with the handle is wonderful--the coffee pours easily and gracefully. Some things to be ready for, though--it does take about three to four rounds of pouring the boiling water over the coffee grounds while waiting for it to drip, and the glass container cools fairly quickly. I was also concerned that the extra steps of boiling the water and pouring it through would be too much in the morning as opposed to filling up the drip machine and hitting the switch, but I find that I actually like the ritual of preparing coffee with the Chemex (and I am not a morning person). Also, I found that pre-heating the Chemex with hot tap water for a few minutes while waiting for the coffee water to boil makes a lot of difference, and then once the coffee is brewed, I pour it all into a stainless steel carafe or thermos to keep it hot. The coffee is so good that any leftover at the end of the day, either re-heated or iced, is delicious. The six-cup is perfect for one to two enthusiastic coffee drinkers. I highly recommend!...This review is from: Chemex Six Cup Glass Coffee Maker with Glass Handle - 6 Cup Coffee MakerSo far I like the Chemex a lot. Best coffee I've made in a l-o-n-g time and it's nice not to have to worry about water leaking out of the bottom of my old coffee maker any more! I'd much rather heat the water separately than go through that again. -- The glass is on the thicker side, but I do worry about breaking it. I debated between this size and the smaller one, but am glad I went with this one. Even though I usually only make a cup or two of coffee at a time, it's nice to know I can make more if I want to....This review is from: Chemex Six Cup Glass Coffee Maker with Glass Handle - 6 Cup Coffee MakerThe chemex is a wonderful experience in making coffee. Some people think these are new, but they have been around for a looooong time. Combined with the chemex filters you will start making coffee just as good as your local brewer. Takes a little practice and a few tries to get the method correct, but in the end it is totally worth it. I prefer this handled version over the classic, just makes pouring a little bit easier....

This review is from: Technivorm Moccamaster Coffee Brewer (KB741) - Stone GreyI purchased this Technivorm coffee maker (the silver version) about three months ago after poor experience with KitchenAid pro-series units (which are no longer offered). Researching coffee makers on-line led to several reviews where this product was praised for brewing coffee at the correct temperature, in accordance with certification standards of some sort, and lots of other gushing about how great it is. I just wanted a good quality, reliable machine to brew good coffee, and I don't want to have to replace it every 2 years. The coffee quality is excellent and I suppose that has something to do with the temperature of the water, which is stated to be just under boiling (200 degrees F). The lid of the coffee pot incorporates a hollow mixing tube that is intended to ensure that the coffee mixes as it drips into the pot, to avoid stratification. it brews almost silently and is very quick. This all works perfectly and without any fuss whatsoever. It is not a fancy coffee maker; it is somewhat industrial in appearance, has no timer, just the on-off switch and a separate switch to control the plate that keeps the pot heated once brewing is complete. One of the reviews that I read says that the styling has not changed since it was introduced in the 1960's. That appeals to me. It just does what is necessary, and my desire is that when the time comes to make repairs, it will be possible to get replacement parts and keep it in service. I am hopeful that the simplicity of the unit will mean that it will be reliable over time. You should be aware that this machine is designed for Europe and does brew less than typical U.S. built coffee makers. It will brew 10 "European" cups, or 40 ounces of coffee. A U.S. coffee maker with 12 cup capacity will brew 60 ounces of coffee, or 1.5 times as much as the Technivorm. The plastic parts are acceptable quality although in my unit the plastic control that is supposed to regulate the drip did break. I simply removed it and left it at what would be the full open position anyway. If you like good coffee, grind your own beans (I do), and want something that is supposed to brew coffee at the proper temperature in order to achieve the best taste, then I think this is a very good quality product. You might have noticed that both Williams-Sonoma, and Sur la table, are promoting Technivorm coffee makers now, so it has hit the mainstream - which means that if you want something unusual that nobody else has seen before, you'll probably need to find a more obscure product!...

This review is from: Cuisinart DGB-700BC Grind & Brew 12-Cup Automatic Coffeemaker w/ DecalcifierThis review is for the product only. We are returning our second unit today. We bought the first one back in early December and it stopped grinding on Christmas Day with a house full of people. The unit requires extensive cleaning and apparently gets clogged up and stops completely. We have been very faithful with the cleaning process but it still clogs up. We were using a regular coffee maker and grinding the beans in a stand alone grinder before buying this unit. We will be buying a new coffee maker today - probably Cuisinart as the last one lasted a good 5 or 6 years - just without the grinder built in....This review is from: Cuisinart DGB-700BC Grind & Brew 12-Cup Automatic Coffeemaker w/ DecalcifierI have returned 2 within 1 week, such as heat plate not working, grinder not working. This one is a learning experience, rinse out the basket and spin thingy, place back in the coffee maker wet, and coffee grounds get wet, never make it to the basket, and you have hot water only. Next, make a total mess taking everything apart, unclog the wet coffee grounds, make another huge mess, cuss, and wiss you could grab the idiot who designed this. This has happened 3 times in less than a week before I found out to dry everything out the night b4, or you'll be sorry.Sorry design & engineering, IMHO!...This review is from: Cuisinart DGB-700BC Grind & Brew 12-Cup Automatic Coffeemaker w/ DecalcifierWe bought this coffee maker about a month ago and I can say without hesitation that it's the best coffee maker we've ever used. There is nothing like having your coffee made with fresh ground beans in the morning. What a difference this makes over the pre-ground beans, we're never going back. The grinder is a little noisy but that only lasts for about 30 seconds. It is important to clean the coffee chute (a very simple process) about every two weeks and you'll know when that becomes necessary because the coffee becomes a little weaker. Everything you need to know about the coffee maker's care is explained in the included DVD. It's much easier to use on a daily basis than our previous coffee maker because you don't have to ever measure the coffee! Simply keep the hopper at least half full and this unit measures the coffee and places it into the filter basket for you. All you have to do is to make sure you place a clean filter into the basket and add the water (I do this the night before) and it does the rest. The next morning I just press the brew button and away it goes!...
