Metal CarafeI bought this coffee maker at a truck stop and have used it several times. It mkes a nice cup of coffee and is plenty hot in my opinion. it does take a while to brew, and does not have a "finished" indicator, but keep in mind this draws about as much juice as you can safely use from 12v pug. I doubt that other 12v coffee makers are any better. i am very happy with my purchase....
